Don't rewrite your LinkedIn yet. Diagnose it first.

Published September 1, 2026 · 5 min read

The default loop right now looks like this: paste your About into ChatGPT, ask it to "make it stronger," paste the result back, feel briefly productive, get fewer replies than you hoped.

The failure mode isn't that AI is useless. It's that rewrite-first skips the only question that matters: what on this page is already working, and what is unverifiable fluff?

Rewrite-first creates three problems

Diagnose-first in four moves

1. Inventory claims

List the 10 sentences you're counting on (headline, About opener, top bullets). These are your load-bearing walls.

2. Mark each claim: sourced / thin / empty

3. Fix empty before you chase eloquence

Replace empty lines with one hard detail. Do not "elevate the language" until the claim is real.

4. Only then rewrite for clarity

Once the facts are solid, tighten voice, rhythm, and headline. Eloquence on top of proof. Not instead of it.

Where Single vs Pro fits, without the soft-sell fog

A single honest audit ($9.99) is the diagnosis: scores, sourced quotes, and gaps — everything you need to know what to fix yourself. Pro ($29/month) is the momentum layer: evidence-grounded rewrites, re-audits with memory, posts cited to your achievements, and a Coach that won't inflate for you.

If you only do one thing this week, do the diagnosis. Rewriting a profile you haven't inspected is how you end up with a prettier version of the same thin story.

Run the diagnosis first, then decide what's worth rewriting:
